On Thursday, 17 October 2024, we marked a monumental occasion—the NCPD Partner Celebration of 85 Years of Impact. Held at Investec in Sandton, this event brought together our incredible partners, board members, and stakeholders to celebrate the strides made in advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in South Africa.
We were absolutely excited to have the one and only Skhumba bring his energy, humour, and charm as the MC at the NCPD Partner Celebration of 85 Years of Impact! He truly made the day unforgettable, keeping everyone engaged and entertained!
The event kicked off with Ms. Alex Msitshana, NCPD Chairman, delivering a heartfelt welcome address, followed by the introduction of our esteemed board members: Mr. Martin Mvulane, Mr. Joseph Komape, Mr. Muller and our NCPD Patron Dr. Vincent Maphhai.
One of the highlights was Setlogane Manchidi, Head of CSI at Investec, who gave a powerful partnership address, underscoring the importance of collaboration in driving impactful change. Our very own National Director, Therina Wentzel, followed with an inspiring address, paired with a moving “85 Years Looking-Back” video presentation, reflecting on the journey of NCPD and the difference we’ve made together.
The day was filled with talented expression, as Daphney Twala captivated the room with her poetry, setting the tone for a meet-and-greet lunch where meaningful connections were made.
Andrew Hofmeyr and Lubabalo Mbeki shared their stories, inspiring attendees with their powerful advocacy work and entrepreneurial journeys. And just when we thought the surprises were over, Bhekani Ngcobo brought a heartwarming surprise for the audience!
The event culminated with an inspirational address by Dr. Vincent Maphai, who called our board members forward for a special 85-year celebration. As a father of a daughter with a severe disability and a renowned leader, his words were both poignant and uplifting, leaving everyone inspired to continue our mission.
As we reflect on this celebration, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who has supported NCPD over the years. Here’s to the next 85 years of advocating, empowering, and driving change for persons with disabilities!
