CASUAL DAY 2025 UNVEILS POWERFUL NEW THEME: “BEYOND THE LABEL”

The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) proudly announced Casual Day 2025’s theme at a vibrant Show and Tell event recently held at Silverstar Casino in Gauteng.

The upcoming 31st annual Casual Day, South Africa’s most beloved fundraising campaign for persons with disabilities, will centre on the transformative theme “Beyond the Label: Embracing Unity Through Inclusion and Diversity.”

In an inspiring presentation, the NCPD revealed that this year’s campaign will focus on seeing persons with disabilities as complete human beings, not defined by their disabilities but celebrated for their full humanity and capabilities.

“‘Beyond the Label’ isn’t just our theme, it’s our revolution,” declared Louis Botha, Casual Day Project Manager. “We’re inviting all South Africans to look past limitations and see possibilities, to recognise that the strongest communities aren’t built on sameness but on the beautiful complexity of our differences.”

DYNAMIC BLUE: THE COLOR OF POSSIBILITIES

The 2025 campaign features “Dynamic Blue” as its signature colour, symbolising limitless possibilities and oceans of change that begin with a single ripple. The vibrant merchandise featuring this eye-catching hue includes:

  • Casual Day Stickers: R20 each
  • T-shirts: from R140 each
  • Caps: R120 each
  • Bucket Hats: R120 each

All merchandise is proudly made and supplied by persons with disabilities, marking a significant step toward inclusivity and empowerment within South Africa.

RTT PARTNERSHIP ENSURES NATIONWIDE ACCESSIBILITY

A highlight of this year onwards is an expanded partnership with RTT Couriers, which will ensure timely deliveries to every corner of South Africa.

“Our partnership with RTT Couriers has been a game-changer,” Botha enthusiastically shared. “With their commitment to driving all post and packages to every corner of South Africa, we’re expecting unprecedented volumes this year as more people recognise the importance of Casual Day and its impact on communities nationwide. Your Casual Day merchandise will reach you no matter where you are in South Africa.”

A CALL TO PARTICIPATION

The NCPD invites all communities, schools, universities, organisations, corporations, and government entities to participate in this worthy cause on Friday, 5 September 2025.

Participating in Casual Day does more than raise funds, it creates awareness about disability issues, promotes inclusion, and directly supports over 600 organisations serving persons with disabilities across South Africa. Every sticker, t-shirt, cap, and bucket hat purchased contributes to:

  • Essential services for persons with disabilities
  • Education and skills development programs
  • Employment opportunities and workplace inclusion initiatives
  • Advocacy for disability rights and accessibility
  • Community-based rehabilitation programs

THE POWER OF CASUAL DAY: 31 YEARS OF IMPACT

Since its inception in 1994, Casual Day has grown to become South Africa’s largest fundraising campaign for persons with disabilities. Last year alone, the initiative raised over R20 million, benefiting hundreds of thousands of South Africans with disabilities.

Beyond the financial impact, Casual Day has been instrumental in changing perceptions, breaking down barriers, and fostering a more inclusive society where persons with disabilities are valued for their contributions.

LOOK BEYOND LABELS

As 5th September approaches, the NCPD invites all South Africans to ask themselves: “What outfit makes you feel unstoppable?” Whether it’s a vintage band tee, mismatched socks, as an addition to your Casual Day merchandise, wear what makes you feel like the boldest, bravest version of yourself, because when you step out in confidence, you help create a world where others feel seen, included, and celebrated.

When you go Beyond the Label, you help create a South Africa where everyone belongs, not despite our differences, but because of them.
