Clicks customers raise R3.4 million to support persons with disabilities

Press Release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cape Town, 18 May 2026 – The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) has extended its heartfelt thanks to Clicks customers, store teams and South Africans across the country for helping raise R3.4 million through the 2025 Casual Day campaign.

The funds were raised through the sale of Casual Day stickers at Clicks stores nationwide, with customers and store teams coming together behind one of South Africa’s longest-running fundraising and awareness initiatives – publicly demonstrating their tangible contribution to the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

This latest contribution brings the total amount raised by Clicks customers over the past three years to nearly R10 million – a record amount delivering measurable social and economic impact for thousands of persons with disabilities across the country.

Bongiwe Ntuli, Clicks Group Executive: Retail, said the continued success of Casual Day reflects the generosity, compassion and strong sense of community shown by South Africans.

“We’re incredibly thankful for the support shown by our customers and proud of the passion our store teams bring to Casual Day each year. The work done by the NCPD plays an important role in creating greater awareness and helping to build a more inclusive society. We are proud that our customers continue to support a campaign that makes a real difference in communities across the country.”

Casual Day is the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities’ flagship awareness and fundraising initiative since 1994. Funds raised support the NCPD’s national programmes, as well as schools, community-based organisations and non-profit organisations working within the disability sector across South Africa.

How Clicks’ 2025 contribution was invested:

The R3.4 million raised by Clicks customers was directed to five priority areas:

• Youth empowerment (47%): R1.6 million invested in Vava iYouth programmes – job preparation workshops, internships and accelerator programmes reaching young people with disabilities across the country, building a pipeline of future leaders.

• Inclusive education advocacy (21%): R727 000 directed to advancing inclusive education policy and programmes that ensure learners with disabilities access quality education.

• Workplace and entrepreneurial programmes (16%): R551 000 supporting inclusive employment initiatives that open doors to economic participation for persons with disabilities.

• Accessibility and reasonable accommodation (8%): R274 000 funding Sign Language and lip-speaker services ensuring that persons who are  hearing impaired can fully participate in all programmes.

• Gender-based violence programmes (7%): R234 000 supporting gender matters initiatives, including Disability Equity Training for 362 SAPS members and 137 Court Preparation Officers – equipping the criminal justice system to serve survivors with disabilities.

Therina Wentzel, National Director of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities, thanked Clicks, its employees and customers for their ongoing support.

“South Africa’s most loved wellness, beauty and health retailer has once again rallied behind Casual Day, actively channelling millions of rands to support and empower persons with disabilities in both rural and urban communities – persons with disabilities who form 17% of our population. The partnership between Clicks and the NCPD, through the Casual Day initiative, exemplifies what is possible when corporate South Africa commits meaningfully to inclusion. We are proud to be associated with the Clicks values, which we share – a deep commitment to community, accessibility and making a difference where it matters most.”

All Clicks stores across South Africa participated in the 2025 campaign, with Clicks Cresta (Randburg, Gauteng) recognised as the top-performing store for its outstanding fundraising efforts and community support.

The next Casual Day will take place on Friday, 4 September 2026, under the theme “Beat As One – Rhythm Matters”. Clicks is encouraging South Africans to once again make an impact by purchasing a R20 Casual Day sticker at Clicks stores nationwide.
