Casual Day 2025 – Beyond the Label: Embracing Unity Through Inclusion and Diversity
A person with a disability is often identified by the disability and, if applicable, any visible assistive devices. Society tends to see the disability and assistive devices first, then labels the person accordingly. As a result, the person is often defined by their disability rather than recognized and valued.
With this theme, we are calling on the public to truly see, appreciate, acknowledge, and respect persons with disabilities as complete human beings—equal to all human beings and entitled to the same human rights and freedoms. This is a call to move beyond labels and perceptions that reduce a person to their disability. Beyond the label = beyond the disability.
What to wear
If you’re too shy to rock your boldest outfit, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!
The most powerful thing you can wear this Casual Day is your Casual Day Sticker—because wearing it isn’t just about style, it’s about impact. Every sticker and supporter item you purchase directly benefits disability organisations across South Africa, making a real difference.
What outfit makes you feel unstoppable? Is it your superhero cape? Your vintage leather jacket that’s carried you through life’s greatest adventures? Your comfiest sneakers that have seen every music festival? Maybe it’s your quirky socks that never match, or the oversized hoodie that feels like a hug. Whatever it is, wear what makes you feel like the boldest, bravest version of yourself—because when you step out in confidence, you help create a world where others feel seen, included, and celebrated.
This year’s colour is dynamic blue—so get your Casual Day T-shirt, cap, or bucket hat to stand out loud and proud on Friday, 5 September 2025!
Go Beyond the Label—wear what makes you you and wear it with pride!
We are looking forward to celebrating Casual Day 2025 with you!
